Travel to Lisbon, Portugal, the City of Discoveries, home to Vasco da Gama and Henry the navigator, who both helped to successfully navigate a sea route to India. The resulting wealth from the spice trade made Portugal a great mercantile center of Europe. In 1986 Portugal joined the EC and foreign investment and development began to change how businesse was done and its economy began to recover. Today Lisbon is a cosmopolitan city where the influence of its colonies in Africa and Brazil give it a very interesting vibe. Lisbon is happening place, many of its younger generation speak English and it is an affordable and exciting destination
